Help Nina Beat Cancer!

My younger sister Nina who is in her thirties was just diagnosed with stage III colon and rectal cancer, which doctors told her is a rare form of the disease. She must act fast to have a chance at beating this awful illness that does not discriminate between the young and the old (this cancer is sadly on the rise in younger adults).

This news has been devastating for our family, and Nina’s friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and community, all of whom love Nina so much.

Nina is the embodiment of love: she loves life and everyone around her. I have watched firsthand for years how generous and kind she is to everyone around her, including strangers she just met.

Nina has always been there for those who need her, is the biggest supporter of those around her, and strangers she meets fast become her friends. To know Nina is to know she is a friend to all. She is also so funny and always knows how to make you laugh!

To watch my charismatic younger sister who is always the light of any room she walks into and who is a young mother to two small boys (Nathan and Nicholas, ages 7 and 6, respectively) have to endure the physical and psychological effects of the blow of this diagnosis and the consequences that it comes with has been heartbreaking for my family and I.

I remember when Nina was a child and would wake up in the morning at 6AM with her “blankie”, pour herself some milk, and get ready to watch Barney on TV. I believe it was her love for this purple dinosaur that first fostered her admirable traits of discipline and dedication in life.

Please consider donating anything you can to my sister. This money will be used for Nina’s out-of-pocket costs associated with testing and treatment that insurance refuses to cover, including, but not limited to, alternative medicine, treatment centers, biomarker testing and various other testing methods, specialized diet, holistic treatments, immunotherapy to be used in conjunction with chemo, radiation, and surgery, out-of-network specialists, airfare to see out-of-state specialists, etc.
