Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is Megan Rodgers, the daughter of Clinton Wayne Rodgers. My father is a member of a fantastic biker club known as the Iron Pigs (made up of law enforcement and firefighters). On his way back from a fellow member getting patched in, my father was in a severe motorcycle accident. He hit a guard rail and flew over it into a ravine. Luckily, his fellow club member acted quickly and called 9-1-1, and the ambulance got to him within 10 minutes. He was admitted to the LSU Ochsner Medical center in Shreveport. He was admitted with nine broken ribs on his right side, a collapsed lung, and a broken clavicle. As well as a compressed L1 and L2 in his spine, a brain bleed and a liver laceration.
As we are from Baton Rouge, my mother, sister, and I quickly made the 4-hour drive to see our father. We are over 200 miles from home, staying in a hotel and having to eat out for most of our meals. Which is a high unforeseen expense to our family.
He was quickly moved up to the Trauma ICU. He was in severe pain due to his rib injuries interfering with his breathing, so they had to intubate him. He had surgery on his broken ribs, 3 through 9, by receiving titanium plates. They warned us he would be intubated for up to 48 hours after the surgery, but he was progressing so well they were able to remove the tube the NEXT DAY!
My father is now in recovery, and all other injuries are being monitored. It will be a slow and painful process, but my Dad is in good spirits, working as hard as possible to improve. My father had served in the navy for five years. He then followed the family tradition of joining the Border Patrol in 1999. He has served in the United States Border Patrol for 23 years and is now the Patrol Agent in Charge at the Baton Rouge Station. As we all know, medical bills are expensive. With my father's surgery, ICU time, and prolonged hospital stay and rehabilitation, we are asking for support from YOU! These funds will help with my father's medical expenses and recovery process so he can return to his regular routine. My father has served his entire adult life, whether in his career or with his family. Throughout my childhood, he was always my biggest supporter; for example, when I ran track, he would cheer me on by RUNNING AROUND THE TRACK WITH ME! He has been an amazing role model not only as a father but through his faith in Christ. The tremendous outpour of prayer from our family and friends has been what we believe to be the sole reason for his fantastic progression since the accident. Primarily we ask for prayers if you are able to assist financially; that would be a great blessing.
