Our dear Trudy and the entire Abboud family have been fighting a battle none of us ever expected. Just a few months ago, Trudy’s cancer scans were clear. But after sudden headaches in April, and more recent testing in July, results revealed heartbreaking news - her cancer has metastasized to several areas of her body… primarily her liver and brain.

Recent scans showed rapid changes, including cancer in the front of her brain that has wrapped around the brain lining. Surgical removal likely isn’t possible.

While a spinal fluid test came back negative for malignant cells (a small piece of good news), it doesn’t rule out future changes. The Abbouds are still waiting on the final test results to determine the next steps; whether that’s treatment options or palliative care and keeping her comfortable.

In the meantime, Trudy had home health care start this week, which includes nursing support, bathing assistance, medication management, and possible instillation of a stair lift to help her move safely through her home. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover all of these critical services.

Through all of this, Trudy and the entire Abboud family remain determined. True to Trudy’s fighting spirit, they want to try, but only if it allows her to maintain some quality of life. We’re asking for help to cover the costs that insurance won’t - the home health care she needs now, equipment like the stair lift to keep her safe and comfortable, maid services, meals, travel, etc. Every donation, big or small, will go directly toward making her days a little easier as she faces this journey.

8/22 Update- she got her first chemo infusion and they are monitoring her labs and how she is doing. Stable for now. Not a lot of symptoms but she is very tired. Home health care has been coming on and been helpful.
