Hello! My name is Leo Mazzola, and I am a Life Scout pursuing my Eagle Scout Project. My project is in conjunction with the Historical Society of Plainfield/Drake House Museum. I will be creating a database that properly identifies Veterans who are buried in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Plainfield, New Jersey.

My team of Scouts and I will research buried Veterans in the St. Mary’s Cemetery who do not have Veteran’s markers and have not been properly identified and recognized for their sacrifices. A database will record their information and locations. This database will be easily accessible via QR codes attached to posts that will be in each section of the cemetery.

All proceeds from the GoFundMe page will go directly to support my Eagle Scout project. Funds are required for the following purposes: utilization of computers for research and data consolidation, web programming and database design, QR code posts, tools for outdoor work, and placards and markers for veterans. Any proceeds that are not used for the project will go directly to the Society to help with restoration of the Drake House and the educational programs that the Society provides for the local community and surrounding areas.

This project supports one of the Society’s and Drake House’s educational missions to bring light to the stories of the fallen who sacrificed their lives for our country.

More information about Historical Society of Plainfield: The Drake House Museum is a city-owned public museum administered by the Historical Society of Plainfield, NJ. George Washington consulted with his officers at the Drake House during the Battle of Short Hills, fought over the Plainfield area on June 25-27, 1777. The National and NJ Historic site, the Drake House, is an exciting link to Plainfield's Revolutionary War history.
