Help Samantha's Family Rebuild After Fire

Donation protected

Well, I'm not quite sure how to do this, but today has been one for the books for my family and I. My name is Samantha, I have six children, Leena, Hannah, Noah, Rylee, Brelynn & Junior (ages range from 4-15), and my other half, Cody. We have owned our home now for two years and 6 months and today, what we thought to be like any other ordinary summer day at home, turned out to be a nightmare.

We noticed some problems with our electric and outlets after the storms last night and had to go around unplugging several things in the house. We made it through the night, got up today and I kept getting the very light scent of melting plastic when I would go to my bedside table. I just had a weird feeling I couldn't shake about the smell and investigated. It took only a second to feel my wall hot to the touch above an outlet right next to our bed. We called non-emergency dispatch and explained the problem and they told us to get the children and get out of the house. We were thinking safety, protocol all that good stuff so we did as asked, then our whole world crashed down.

There was an electrical fire in the wall of the bedroom and the wires and outlets were all reading over 90° in 3 different rooms of the house after all power was shut off to the house. Needless to say, they were able to control everything but our home is considered a loss as it's going to have to be completely rewired. They took our whole box as any electricity to our house would only be the flame to the gas. So now with 6 kids, we are left to figure it out. I own my home so the rent isn't a huge thing but we need a place to stay until we can get our insurance claim started and the work redone. Plus all the cost to fix everything damaged and the rewire of the house. We thought we had built it all, a home, and never planned for an instant, unexpected disaster and now we are counting on God and our blessings.

Red Cross will be with us again tomorrow and the next day. The first 72 hrs, but then we are on our own to get this home back together for our 6 babies and in the meantime we need to be able to provide all daily essentials, a place to stay during the remodel, etc. We lost all of our groceries, everything. This hit hard. And I was told to create this page from our Fire Chief who did an amazing job today and did all he could to save this from being the outcome. We are hoping our homeowners insurance will cover a huge portion, if not most of this, but at the moment we have no idea. Just reaching out for help, resources, anything. Honestly at this point I'm not even sure, it's all still sinking in. If you can help in any way possible, for anything, we will appreciate it more than words could ever express. Our family is lost right now, so even a prayer, our home was just that, HOME. I don't usually ask for help, but my family is suffering from this bizarre accident today and anything would be so helpful. God bless you and thank you. Prayers. Prayers. Prayers. Please.
