The Bernie Hovan Memorial Fundraiser

This GoFundMe page has been created for a 1-month campaign (ending May 7th) to raise funds to pay for the Bernie Hovan Memorial at the Nordonia High School Varsity Baseball Field. Bernie passed away on December 10, 2020 of complications related to Covid 19. The Nordonia Hills School Board voted unanimously to name the Nordonia High School Varsity Baseball Field in Bernie’s honor. Memorial plans are for a sign mounted to the current baseball field scoreboard that reads “Bernie Hovan Memorial Field.” Additionally, an engraved granite plaque with Bernie’s picture and his accomplishments as a Nordonia teacher and coach will be mounted on a laid brick mount on the baseball field grounds. Initial estimates of costs for the Bernie Hovan Memorial (signage, plaque and mount) are in the $3,000 to $5,000 range with Creative Designs (Chris Corradino-Alumni) and Colucci Contractors (Joe Colucci – Alumni) doing much of this work at their cost only.
