Pakistan Floods 2022 - Shelter Relief Program
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Mariyam Nizam. I am of Pakistani heritage and currently live in Sydney. I am far from home, but the devastation in Pakistan is Unprecedent. The country is inundated, facing torrential rainfall. It’s a climate catastrophe! Over 30 million people are impacted with hundred of thousands homeless. Most of the affected communities live in abject poverty, earning less than a dollar a day. They have lost everything. Their homes, their belongings, their livestock, their livelihoods, their dignity.
I’m raising funds for the International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism. Pakistan.
‘INTBAU Pakistan’ has begun a Shelter Program for flood-hit families in Sindh.
The Prefab Bamboo Shelters cost approximately-AU$ 170 each. They are constructed on Bamboo, mud, lime and reed making them low carbon, low cost but comfortable and respectful. The shelters are constructed with locally sourced materials using local talent. Creating jobs and regenerating the local economy.
Currently, INBTAU is working within certain earmarked areas in Sindh and have already started building 100 shelters through their locally trained technical teams.
