Help Jennifer Beat Cancer!

Donation protected
Hello all! It's Katie and Aaron (Jen's kids). As many of you may know by now, our mom was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in her bronchial tubes and lungs just over two months ago. Its name is Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. She immediately realized there’s no designated treatment for this particular cancer. Mom's form of cancer doesn’t respond to chemo and we can’t have the mass removed because of where it’s located. Therefore, her treatment relies on radiation to shrink it down to ultimately save her life. Mom's treatment is being considered for a case study for this cancer due to the rarity factors.

The hope is for the amazing doctors at the Mayo Clinic to find something that can work on this particular type of cancer and eventually help people like our mom, who seem to fall under this rare category.

With that being said, mom has uprooted herself and left our home, job, us, and school to fight her cancer in Jacksonville. Our grandparents, otherwise known as heaven-sent angels, who live somewhat closer to the hospital, have afforded her the opportunity to not only stay with them during treatment but also have been helping us financially these past couple of months to maintain important things: her healthcare/insurance coverage, overall bills, house maintenance, etc. Our Grandmommie has also been driving her over an hour each way every day to her appointments since she started treatment. They've taken on many of our responsibilities to keep us afloat.

However, recently our Grandpoppie, mom's stepdad, passed away suddenly, but peacefully. He has done an unbelievable amount of things to help and support us in every way he possibly could have. Without him being our rock daily, and especially these past few years in which we've needed him most, we would've been completely lost. It is thanks to him that we have all made it this far both mentally and physically, but now that he isn't physically with us, we need help more than ever, as we're sure he'd agree.

After speaking to a few people in our support circle about everything, it was suggested we start a donation page and open it up for others to contribute as well. This would help the financial gaps created since mom leaving her ‘normal’ life while also helping offset the ongoing financial support from our grandparents.

While mom doesn’t necessarily feel comfortable asking for help, we know we need to ask the people who care for her for help, in whatever capacity. She's gonna fight this like hell, and with the support of our friends and family, we know she has a huge chance to beat this cancer, and possibly help another person, too.

In short, we humbly ask for any contribution you are able to make, as nothing is too small. Anything would help, but if you cannot, we still ask everyone to please add our mom to your prayer list. We know altogether, she has a better chance at maintaining her overall strength with support than if she rode this out alone.

We're incredibly grateful for all of your support. Thank you for taking the time to read mom's story, for the prayers, and for the support she has received, as well as for what’s to come.

We love you all… oh, and FCK CANCER!! :D
