UPDATE:

Fitz is doing reasonably well and is still in a facility receiving scheduled IV antibiotics.

The vehicle situation has become difficult to solve. I am looking into finding a second-hand van. One we could modify with a hoist or other modifications. If anyone has information about such a vehicle. Getting into a vehicle with his wheelchair is a problem. Before, he could wheel up to his hatchback, stand on one foot, lean against the vehicle, fold and load the chair, hop to the driver’s door on his right leg, where he had his right leg for driving the automatic hatchback.

Cornelius “Fitzy” Fitzpatrick, a number of years ago, contracted MRSA. MRSA is an infection caused by a type of staph bacteria that has become resistant to many of the antibiotics used to treat ordinary staph infections that Fitz contracted after a hospital procedure, and he developed serious complications in his legs. After multiple surgeries to keep blood flowing through his legs, the surgeons had to amputate his left leg below his knee that changed his life forever. He had adjusted as well as possible but as you can imagine, it was exceedingly difficult.

Fitzy’s condition worsened in his right foot, and they tried to save his right leg by removing half of his foot at first, and after a few days, there was no blood flow to his lower leg. Within a day or so, they removed his right leg below his knee. While still in the hospital, another infection developed, and the surgeons removed his knee.

The help he needs is beyond medical care. We are trying to make his life as easy, (if I can use that word), as possible using proper prosthetics, adapting his vehicle to hand controls, modifications to his house, and internet communications from square 1. He has no internet capabilities where now you can visually select your groceries and order for delivery to your door and do the same for other needs.

Did I mention he is a bachelor and lives alone?

I am asking for your help so he can get a better life than he has now.
