My name is Dave, and this is something that I never thought I would have to do. A few years back, I was showing symptoms of something that has turned into a living nightmare. It wasn’t clear back then what it was, but eventually, it came into focus. A tumor was discovered in my left kidney. The kidney was removed, and a biopsy of the tumor confirmed that it was cancer. A month or so after the diagnosis, I was put on chemotherapy for two months. The side effects were pretty unbearable, but I fought through it, and things were looking hopeful. This all happened in the spring of 2024. Scans were conducted every two to three months to monitor the results of the chemotherapy, and everything was looking positive. I was actually feeling better than I had in years. I was telling family and friends that I came out of the treatments better than expected. Then, in December of 2024, my scan came back showing various areas that were concerning to my oncologist. The cancer was now upgraded to Stage 4 and classified as treatable but not curable. I was again faced with chemotherapy but with no set timeline. I went through two different chemotherapy treatments, both with unbearable side effects. I am currently on my third type of chemotherapy. This one seems to be working, but I won’t know for sure until next month’s scan. Fingers crossed and waiting for a good diagnosis.

In the meantime, I haven’t been able to work. I am out on disability, but it’s not nearly enough to keep up with monthly costs. I am also on COBRA insurance, but that also has a time limit on how long I can stay on that. So that’s my story. It’s been a struggle both physically and mentally. Depression is a horrible part of it. It’s in my head constantly with no way out. I’m hopeful to be able to get onto a more definite health insurance, but in the meantime, I’m responsible for healthcare expenses and monthly expenses. So I am here asking for help. Anything will be appreciated, and believe me, it is a hard thing to ask for. I do not want anyone to feel obligated to give. It has taken me months to get up the courage to even do this. I could also use your prayers and emotional support.
