Hi my name is Neil.

On Easter Sunday April 17th I had just finished work at 4:30. Walked to my bike, which was parked in Ybor city Tampa Florida, as I work In hospitality downtown. I usually take the solemn express way to get home. But there was an accident on the on ramp off of 22nd street, so I was forced to go a different route through downtown to get home. I went through the intersection of Nebraska and Kennedy and was struck by a car on the left side of the bike. I went flying through the air knocked out of my riding shoes to land in the middle of the road. The bike was instantly destroyed. And so was I. I was rushed to the hospital where all the tests anyone can think of were run, as such my Tibia had a compound fracture that came through the skin, ankle was smashed to pieces and the entire heel of my left foot was ripped off, left dangling by a bit of skin. Also my pinky and ring finger were dislocated and a fair amount of road rash. I then waited for 14 hours in the most agonizing pain I have ever been in! The kind of pain that no painkiller known to man can snub! Went into surgery the following morning at 8:30 am. They were waiting for the Head Ortho surgeon to come in on Monday morning because of the complications with reattaching the heel. As I have recently learned this is a very complicated injury.

I did have insurance but no medical coverage for myself. As you can imagine the bills for being put back together are crazy!!! And I have been unable to walk for nearly 3 months. So I have not been able to work. I live alone on the second floor of my apartment building. So just taking care of myself has come with its own mountain of challenges. All the savings I had has been spent and all the help that my close friends and family have been able to provide has also been exhausted. At this point I am in immediate danger of losing my apartment and becoming homeless. As I have no transportation and live alone, simple needs like going to the grocery store are not possible. Making a go fund me page is the last platform I can think of to reach out and ask for help in this tragic episode that has devastated my life and put everything on hold until I can walk again

I am asking for any and all help to get through this challenge of navigating the recovery to become a functioning contributing human in this crazy beautiful world we live in
