Gwen’s Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Our mother Gwen was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in October. In December the week before Christmas she fell and woke up the next morning paralyzed unable to move her arms and legs. Her cancer had eaten through her spine and as a result of her fall it crumbled what was remaining. She was rushed to the hospital for an emergency surgery to put a plate in her neck with hopes she would regain mobility. It was uncertain she would survive the surgery but she with gods blessing, prayers, and her strength she made it through.

Our family spent Christmas in the hospital with hopes and prayers she would regain movement but has not. Our mom has become a quadriplegic as a result of this horrible disease. Our father has quit his job to become a full time care taker for her. We were blessed to get her an appt at Dana Farber one of the best cancer hospitals in the world to start treating her cancer with infusion treatment. Each trip to Dana Farber costs $1300 to transport. We have had to make many improvements to the home to make it handicap accessible such as a ramp, putting in a handicap shower so we can bathe her, purchase a hospital bed and equipment. we purchased a wheelchair van to have more freedom and reduce cost so we can get her out and about to enjoy herself as much as she can and to her appointments.

We never ask for help, mom is the rock of our family who organizes all our holidays, provides daycare and we have all exhausted our resources trying to help them and have nowhere else to turn- we know times are hard for everyone and it is hard for us to ask for help but we have nowhere else to turn
We are hoping to raise money to help with all the associated costs with my mothers care and have them not struggle during this time. We appreciate all of the love from our friends and family who have stopped by to visit her, spent time with her and for those who have given their prayers. We appreciate even just wishes at this time.
