Rebecca "RED" Acosta is my beautiful, awesome wife of 20 years & mother of our two sons, Malachi & Abraham. Back in 2012 she was diagnosed with her 1st brain tumor (grade 3). By the grace of GOD, she made it through surgery, radiation treatment & chemo. This was indeed a very difficult time in our lives, but GOD got us through that storm. She was able to go back to work as 3rd grade teacher at New Life Baptist Academy, while continuing chemo. Treatment seemed to work & in 2014 the doctors reported the tumor was gone. We continued chemo as suggested by our oncology doctor & plans were to stop by end of 2015. Then in August 2015 she started experiencing siezures/muscle spasms on her right side of body. We ended up going back to the hospital & found out that another tumor (grade 4) had grown in another part of her brain. Doctors informed us this was more agressive than the 1st one. So we started another type of chemo & a whole bunch of new medication to keep swelling around brain down. The plan was to have an awake surgery in mid-December, which terrified Rebecca. The new chemo seemed to be keeping tumor from growing, so after consulting with doctors, we decided to hold surgery off until mid-January 2016. This would allow us to enjoy Christmas & New Year's as a family. During this time she experienced many complications with medications, which eventually led her back to hospital. Another MRI was done while in hospital & it revealed the tumor had grown much bigger. Surgery was no longer an option due to higher risk of permanent damage. So after doctor visit & receiving a diagnoses of a few week for my love to live, he started her on another round of chemo to "give us more time". I then started the process of getting second opinion in hopes of further treatment. We were able to meet with the Radiologist who treated the 1st tumor & he informed us of the possiblility of a 2nd treatment of radiation. I aslo contacted MD Anderson in Houston TX & sent all medical records for possible appointment. They informed me that since we have already had one treatment of new chemo, they needed her to go through couple more & then get updated MRI. We were able to start radiation treatment on January 3rd in hopes to get rid of tumor & then proceed to see doctors in Houston by mid-January. She is currently working with a physical, occupational & speech therapist to help regain funtion on the right side of her body. So, at this point we really need support from family, friends & anyone else who can help with travel, medical and lodging expenses. Thanks & GOD bless
