Help my family rebuild their home

My mother, sister, step-dad and brother-in-law all went in on a property together about a month ago. They've worked so hard to get to where they are and started the building and renovations with high hopes- but there seemed to be problem after problem.

 

Now, the recent QLD + NSW floods have completely destroyed everything they had built so far. The bottom story of the house being renovated, the foundation for the other property, tens of thousands of dollars worth of renovation material, 3 cars, a brand new caravan my sister and her family had been living in for months, and priceless sentimental possessions have now been lost.

 

 

 

 

They did what they could to bring as much as possible to the second level and spent days braving the storm on the second level- without a functioning bathroom! But with the waters continuing to rise, they could only put the smaller items in the roof cavity before evacuating. A kind neighbour rescued them on their boat, and they have gotten to stay there for the night.

 

 

 

 

They attempted to get insurance a while back but were refused on the grounds of "threat of inundation".

So now they are left to clean and piece together what they can. This is particularly tough for my sister's family, who suffered a house fire a few years back, and this is now the second time they need to "start from scratch". Particularly tough with 2 small children.

 

I'm yet to hear from them again to see if the flooding has reached the second level, but I'll post any updates I receive here.

 

They haven't asked me to create this; I just want to do what I can to help my family. Anything raised here will go towards repairs and new materials to complete the renovations once the waters have subsided and the property has been cleaned up. Thanks for your time.
