Noir Short Film by John Capone

Hello friends and fellow movie lovers,

My name is John Capone, and I am a young writer/director from Rochester, NY that has had the amazing opportunity to attend film school in Los Angeles. I want to tell you about the new film I've begun working on that I need your generous help to bring to the big screen!

I fell in love with movies in my early years in upstate New York when my dad and I would watch old classic Hollywood films from the 40s and 50s on TCM, or even video cassette tapes! The films that inspired me were the true classics. I'm excited to say that the film I'm working extremely hard to bring to life is a 15 minute short Noir/Detective Thriller, called "Fruit of the Garden", set in 1940s Los Angeles.  I hope to create a compelling and entertaining film, one that is meaningful on many different levels.

So, what is this flick about? Well, the story follows Pierce Glatman, an LAPD detective who's come back to the beat in Los Angeles after serving in World War II. Pierce finds himself interrogating a family member for a case that reveals the detective's own relationships to be as broken and corrupt as the city of Los Angeles. Sounds pretty interesting, right? Well you can be a part of the foundation that builds this project to be a full-fledged, edge-of-your-seat thriller! So...

Here's where you come in: in order for my team and I to tell this story uniquely in the 40s era, we are going to need a budget to construct sets, buy costumes, rent props, and cover all other production costs that evoke the look of the time period. Perhaps the most important aspect of the film is its transportation to that time of fedoras, cigarette smoke and jazz. It will also be the most costly aspect of the production. Any amount of money you can give be it small or great is very much appreciated and will be put to good use!

As a part of my fundraising I would also like to give back to the community around me and promote the power of art. I have decided to donate 10% of all funds raised on this page to The Art of Elysium organization. This charity is dedicated to enriching the lives and connection between hospitalized youth and professional artists by providing artistic work shops and support to children battling serious medical conditions. I am hoping that my project can make a difference in more ways than one. You can read more about this amazing organization at http://theartofelysium.org

The movie lover in me thanks the movie lover in you from the bottom of my heart in making this dream come alive!

Thanks again,

John Capone

P.S. ROCHESTER PEOPLE, I would love to have a premiere screening in December at a local theatre as a thank you celebration for all who will have contributed to this project from the hometown! But first things first, let's raise those funds so I can bring back something that will make all of you lovely people proud!
