Developing Libraries in Ethiopia

Do you remember going to the library when you were a kid? A maze of books and computers, overseen by quiet, but helpful, librarians. Filled with answers, treasures, and every world you could imagine, libraries give us all the opportunity to learn and grow and see the world.


A year ago, H2 Empower gave the first-ever training for school librarians in all of Ethiopia. With the support of Roots Ethiopia and the Ministry of Education, it was a massive success! But, what good is a book if you can't read? What good is a library without books? Literacy rates are improving and schools are being built, but there is still much work to be done.

We will hold another training event for Ethiopian librarians and teachers from 115 schools this coming October. We need your help to help fund this pivotal work. We plan to also provide a supply of local-language books for each library as, after all, how can they be effective without resources to offer their students? Slowly but surely, with local involvement and your support, these libraries will become true community centers of personal growth and achievement.
