Mr. Willie is only 10 months old and I’m at loss. My baby was hit by a car after getting out of our fenced in yard on Saturday. He has broken his pelvis in 2 places and broke his femur in 2 places also. Thankfully nothing else was hurt. So far just the ER vet Saturday was $800. We had an estimate for surgery to fix it and it was $5000. We have 5 children that are teenagers and we just bought our twins their first cars. The other option is amputation for $1,000 to $1,500. I hate this option but, it is more in range of what I can afford but this will only be a LAST resort. I’m worried about his back long term with 3 legs and dachshunds are prone to back problems without the amputation. We do however have a friend who had a weenie and she has generously given us his wheelchair since he passed a few years ago. It’s top of the line. Again, this will be our last resort. That’s why I am here asking for help. I appreciate anything you can do to help keep this baby in good shape❤️
