Hi, I’m Donna, I’m a widowed pensioner in head/neck cancer remission and ‘mum’ to a rescue dog, a Staffy cross, I renamed Sophie. I saved her and she saved me almost 2 years ago and we haven’t been separated since.
last week she swallowed a chunk of ball and $4500 later (already!) she is now in baldivis vet hospital and facing surgery which I’m told could cost anywhere between an extra $6-$10,000 that I don’t have and can’t get. To make matters worse financially is this has happened over a weekend and long weekend so I’ve also been hit with weekend and public holiday rates for her 24/7 care and investigations so far.
Unfortunately, I have no money having spent it and spending it on my own cancer remission treatment and ongoing recovery and I couldn’t afford pet insurance. Plus due to my circumstances vetpay will only allow me what I’ve already spent on vet fees.
I have no family except my daughter who lives overseas with her partner, so this go fund me is my only option to raise the money to save my little Sophie’s life.
She comes from an abused background but amazes everyone with her gentle, loving nature. She’s my motivation for getting up in the morning and I can’t imagine trying to live without her. She’s much more than my best friend. She’s my family now. She’s brought the motivation to keep going, I’m not lonely, and she gives me unconditional love. I owe this precious little dog everything.
She’s a young dog who loves people and other animals and I love her so much and I would be so grateful for any help to meet these huge vet fees. Such a special precious little animal should not have to be put down just because I can’t afford the vet fees! i don’t think I could live with the guilt either.
if I were you I’d be thinking ‘get a job’ but I already work only part time for health reasons, but it’s not enough… and only entitled to a small part pension payment and I barely make ends meet especially these days.
And now what little I had put aside has already gone on vet fees…. I will be so grateful to you for any help you can offer to help me save my little Sophie’s life.
