*Thank you for helping us to reach our goal in less than 48 hours! Your generosity means so much. We welcome any additional donations, if you feel led to give. These funds will be used towards other treatment supplies, gas to travel back and forth to appointments, meals for the family, etc.
My name is Sarah Benton. As a lot of people know by now, my sister Rachel Stover was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Since she shared this news, many people have reached out to me and my family to ask how they can best help her and her family as she navigates this process. Being fully transparent, this is a difficult question for Rachel to answer, so I have decided to make it a bit easier for her. Since we have so many wonderful and caring friends/family who do not live close, I thought this would be an easy way for people to provide help from far away.
As anyone would, Rachel is concerned about losing her hair during treatment. There is a process called scalp cooling, which is an FDA-cleared, proven and effective way to reduce chemotherapy-induced hair loss. It is a cold cap worn for a period of time before, during, and after each treatment that lowers the temperature of the scalp, thereby constricting blood vessels and reducing the blood flow to the hair follicles. This reduces hair loss by limiting the amount of chemotherapy drugs reaching the follicles. A friend of Rachel's has been using this during her own chemo treatments and it has been working! Unfortunately, they are pretty expensive. Please consider donating something towards this so we can help provide it for Rachel.
Thank you so much for helping Rachel. And of course, your continued prayers and words of encouragement are needed too!
