Hello Friends,
At this point, you probably already know what happened to our friend and colleague, MaryAnn Grady, back in September of 2024, but I will quickly summarize for anyone new to the situation…
MaryAnn and her husband Brian Fauvel, both veteran special education teachers at Lincoln-Sudbury High School for 2+ decades, lost their baby at 20 weeks due to a probably-preventable infection which also led to sepsis, surgery, lots of antibiotics, and several complications and infection reoccurrences for MaryAnn until February of 2025.
Now given the green-light to try again, MaryAnn found out that IVF and her next embryo transplant are no longer covered by medical insurance due to her age, so they must pay for everything out-of-pocket. MaryAnn and Brian find themselves $6,040 short of their next embryo transplant that is supposed to take place next month. We, her friends and colleagues, do not want MaryAnn and Brian to postpone or give up their dream because of a lack of funding. If you are able and willing to donate even the smallest amount, we know they will be forever grateful. Even if you cannot or wish not to donate, feel free to share this message with other friends or philanthropists who may be interested in donating to this cause. Of course there is no pressure to donate, we are simply reaching out to anyone we think may be willing to help. They do not know we have set this up for them, but they will find out soon enough.
Thank you,
Shanna Evans and the staff who work with MaryAnn, on behalf of MaryAnn and Brian.
Update from May 27th
Hi everyone,
I want to update everyone since we have hit our goal of raising $7000 for MaryAnn! MaryAnn will share some personal words with you all next, now that we have told her the goal has been reached! Thank you for helping her out!
Updated May 27th. From Mary Ann:
Hello to all you wonderful people (from Mary Ann)!
WOW! I cannot thank you all enough! Words are hard to come by right now! From the bottom of my heart, I will be forever grateful for your help! I am SO TOUCHED that you have all supported me through this round of IVF/embryo transfer!
When I lost Mary Kate last year and then had repeated infections that seemingly lasted forever, I wasn’t sure there would be another chance to have a baby, and that was devastating. I was in shock from the loss, and I wasn’t sure my body would ever be healed enough to go through IVF again. The wonderful staff at Boston IVF were persistent and called regularly to see if I was “ready to try again.” When I got the OK from all my other docs (infectious disease providers, etc.) to move forward, I was terrified but had to go for it!
When Shanna told me about this page, I was so afraid to even look at it because it was humiliating to have others support me when I fell short this time around. Your contributions will help me pay the remaining [hefty] balance to Boston IVF! You have no idea how big of a weight this has been for me, and now you have helped take away this burden! I promise to “pay it forward” in as many ways as possible for the rest of my life!
It’s really early, but I guess I should share with you all now (I can’t think of anyone more deserving!)…I am currently about 5 weeks pregnant with Baby Boy Grady-Fauvel! Fingers crossed that he sticks around for the full 9 months!
Truly, I am so thankful to have friends like Shanna, Cameron, and Neil who would put themselves “out there” for me. And to all the generous folks who have donated and supported me and loved me near and far, thank you for your friendship. Peace and love to all of you,
Mary Ann Grady (& Brian Fauvel & Baby Boy)
