Support Dominic Capone’s Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Dominic Joseph, with all the tenacity of a true Cleveland sports fan, is currently fighting for a win against a recently diagnosed stage 3 non-seminoma Testicular cancer that has spread throughout his body (including liver, lungs and spine). In the midst of that diagnosis, the cancer cells were pushing on his spine causing a fracture in his vertebra which ultimately caused him to lose all mobility in both legs (for now). He underwent emergency surgery on August 25th to repair his back and has been working with physical therapists to regain mobility in his legs (which is not guaranteed) while now simultaneously going through chemotherapy at just 26 years young.
Living with autism (diagnosed at a young age) Dominic has enjoyed a fairly simple life. He has so much energy for Cleveland sports with a gentle but blatant sense of humor about the reality of their struggles. He endlessly and enthusiastically supports his Alma Mater, the North Royalton Bears following the teams and cheering them on in person or just by keeping up with the news. Watching sports and playing his Xbox are among his favorite passions.
As a family we are grateful for the series of events that led us to find out about Dominic’s condition, knowing and believing that all things happened and led us to this for a reason. Timing of the events has proven to be nothing short of a miracle. This battle has brought out strengths in each other that we as a family didn’t know we had. To witness the strength and suffering of someone as innocent as Dominic, who is just coming to know and understand a little more of what is going on with his own health, is humbling, as we do our best to walk him through this storm.
We appreciate every bit of emotional, spiritual and financial support anyone has offered or is able to render. All donations will help to cover medical costs that won’t be covered by insurance. Dom will be moved to a rehab facility to continue care once finally released from hospital. Home modifications are likely necessary to make him comfortable and afford him the ability to live at home as soon as he is able.
More than anything we ask that you please continue to hope and pray for him as he battles courageously…and still suffers the even greater pain of watching the Browns play on Sundays.
