Rich was just about to finish a semester of classes
when his life turned upside down. He was diagnosed with tongue and throat cancer. HE HAS NEVER USED TOBACCO PRODUCTS! Rich will be having surgery Saturday, Nov. 14th just 3 days after his diagnosis. He was a month away from graduating and starting as an underwriter analyst. All of which is on hold now.
Rich married the love of his life, Angie, just a year and 5 months ago. Angie 's daughter was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and Rich and Angie took custody of her grandchildren for 3 years now, raising them as their own, one of which is a special needs child and has recently been diagnosed with MD as well.
Following Rich's surgery he will undergo 4 months of Chemo and radiation. This family really needs our help with medical bills, travel expenses to Cox South (Springfield), loss of wages, and help to care for the children when Angie needs to be with Rich.
Unfortunately, Angie is recuperating from back surgery for a fractured vertebrae and has two more surgeries to go. She is waiting for her medical retirement.
They have depleted their savings, but were holding their own until Rich starts his new job, which is now on hold. They don't like asking people for help, but they are open to it now.
