Update: unfortunately Alexis lost her fight to Cancer and Muccormycosis. We are deeply sadden and heartbroken with this news. We are sharing this Gofundme to help Jeffrey with all of her funeral expenses and take this load off of him so he can grieve his wife in peace. Thank you all so much for the love and support you have shown our family. We greatly appreciate every single donation.
Our youngest sister is fighting for her life battling cancer. She was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a type of cancer that starts in the blood-forming cells in the bone marrow. AML is the most common of acute leukemia, only accounting for 1% of all cancers overall. AML is also the most fatal type of leukemia.

Alexis is only 28yrs old and is a very strong-willed woman that knows exactly what she wants out of life. She has goals that are all planned out and she sticks to the script to achieve them. At the time of her diagnosis, she has held down a job and put herself through College to become a Labor and Delivery Nurse, which she was just 3 classes away from obtaining her BSN. Most important she decided to begin a family with her fiance Jeffrey and become a mom to her beautiful Ella who is a week shy of her 2nd birthday. She works full time, attends College full time and takes care of her 2yr old. She makes it all look so easy which always seems to amaze us.

The diagnosis of AML was swift and left us all in shock with the intense treatment that began immediately. These turn of events have turned all of our lives around. A typical doctor's visit for feeling overly tired resulted in routine blood work. As we now know, the reason for the doctor's visit, came from being cautious as she was in her first trimester with baby number two. Which was going to be revealed to all of us at Ella's 2nd birthday party which is coming up.
The morning of August 8th, 2023 was like any other with a trip to daycare to drop off Ella when she received the phone call that her blood results came back abnormal and she needed to rush to the hospital right away. Her support system lives in the next state which immediately immobilized to take care of Ella so that she can go to the hospital. On day one they gave her an oral Chemo because they could not do it through an IV due to her pregnancy. Sadly day 2, she was forced with the hard decision to have to terminate her pregnancy in order to start receiving the chemotherapy through an IV. The loss of her pregnancy has been devastating to the parents. It's a pain that will never go away.

As we prepare to fight this together as a family, we are trying to make sure that Alexis has nothing to worry about but the long battle ahead of her and ringing that bell in the near future. We will be updating this as we find out more information. The next result that we are waiting for is to find out if she will need a bone marrow transplant. My sister and I will be getting tested to see if we are eligible donors if necessary. If we are not candidates she will be placed on a donor waiting list.

All donations will be used for medical and life expenses to keep their home taken care of so that Alexis can focus solely on beating the odds.
From the bottom of our hearts, we humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family, and if possible, in giving (any amount will help).
We thank you for your support, prayers and are grateful for every one of you!
Update 08/19/24
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts to share the story of Alexis Rodriguez, a devoted mother, wife, and aspiring nurse whose life has been turned upside down by a relentless battle with leukemia. With just one class left before achieving her dream of becoming a nurse, Alexis’s journey has taken a devastating turn.
In August 2023, while expecting her second child, Alexis received the life-altering diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), the deadliest form of leukemia. Tragically, she had to make the heartbreaking decision to terminate her pregnancy to prioritize her health and fight this disease.
After a grueling year of chemotherapy and radiation, Alexis finally found hope when her sister became a perfect 100% match for a bone marrow transplant. After enduring this procedure, she achieved remission, but the battle was far from over. Shortly after, Alexis faced an even greater challenge: a severe infection (Mucormycosis) that required the removal of several organs and led to sepsis.
Despite these overwhelming struggles, Alexis remains a resilient fighter, but her doctors have been honest with the family about the gravity of her condition. They urge us to prepare for the worst while we continue to hope for the best.
As she bravely fights for her life, Alexis’s family is facing mounting medical bills, the loss of income, and the emotional toll of this journey. Her little girl, Ella, is turning 3 soon, and we want to ensure that Alexis can focus on her recovery without the burden of financial stress.
