Joe's Support Fund

Hi, my name is Chris Dearing, and I work with the North Park Theatre in Buffalo, NY.

During the December blizzard of 2022, my friend and North Park employee of ~40 years Joe White suffered severe frostbite on his hands.

Joe is mentally disabled, and he did not understand the true severity of the storm.

Disoriented and crying out for help, he miraculously found himself at the doorstep of Sha'Kyra Rain Aughtry—a total stranger—who put her Christmas plans aside and tended to his wounds the best she could.

Unfortunately, the snow prevented emergency services from reaching Joe's location right away, and two days passed until Sha'Kyra was able to find transport to ECMC.

Joe's condition is stable and he's in good spirits, but it's still too early to know anything about his hands.

All funds generated here will be spent on Joe's most pressing medical needs. If by some miracle he leaves the hospital without lasting complications, the funds will go toward improving his day-to-day care at home, ensuring nothing like this happens again.

We couldn't be there for him that night in the snow, but we can be there for him now.
