Hi, my name is Summer. When I was 28 weeks pregnant, I was hospitalized with severe preeclampsia. My liver function was declining, blood pressures were super high, and I was put on medication to help me from progressing to full eclampsia (seizures). Unfortunately, the only way to recover was to deliver my baby. The doctors did their best to stabilized me, hoping to give my baby as much time to develop as possible. Less than a week into my stay, however, an ultrasound revealed the blood flow from my placenta was not able to supply my baby with what he needed. His heart rate began to drop and I was rushed in for an emergency c-section the day I hit 29 weeks gestation. Luke Uriah Brogan was born 12/7/2023 at 3:33pm, 1 lb 10 oz, 12.5 inches long. I couldn't see him when he came out; but before he was rushed to the NICU, I was able to hear his tiny squeaky cries and my heart was filled. Since my discharge, I have been staying at the Ronald McDonald house next to the hospital to remain on scene for all the ups and downs. His first few weeks of life have been tough. He's had several blood transfusions, on and off feeds, ups and downs in weight. Early on he was placed on a ventilator and later suffered a bilateral brain bleed, grade 4 in the left hemisphere and grade 2 in the right. Still, through prayer and persistence from the doctors, nurses, and all who love him, he's pushing through! I am humbly asking for prayer and donations to put toward bills and medical expenses as we journey through these next few months toward NICU graduation and adjusting to home life afterwards ❤️ Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!
