Jonathan Warren Lindley, known as "big Jon" to friends and family, has always been full of energy and determination. He grew up playing football and baseball, and his love for speed led him to race dirt bikes. After attending school for motorcycle and truck mechanics, Jonathan found his passion both behind the wheel and under the hood. He's the kind of person who lights up a room and never hesitates to help others, especially when it comes to his family or his beloved truck.
Recently, Jonathan's life took a sudden and frightening turn. He began suffering from severe headaches, neck pain, and trouble swallowing, which quickly escalated to frequent falls and difficulty eating. On July 1, his family rushed him to East Alabama Medical Center, where tests revealed pneumonia and more alarmingly, fluid on his brain. Doctors quickly transferred him to UAB, where scans uncovered a massive tumor at the base of his brain. The situation was critical- Jonathan was at risk of a massive stroke and needed emergency brain surgery. Over the next days, he underwent multiple procedures, including the placement of a drain, a shunt, and a feeding tube, as the tumor has affected his vision, balance, and ability to swallow.
Jonathan now faces a long road to recovery, with extensive medical bills and ongoing rehabilitation ahead. His mother, Marie, is by his side, managing his care and making sure he gets the support he needs. Donations will help cover the cost of his surgeries, hospital stays, therapy, and the specialized care required for his recovery. Every contribution brings Jonathan one step closer to getting back to the life he loves and activities that define him.
Update 10/22/2025:
Jon’s eyesight has not come back fully. He can partially see out of his left eye only. We are hopeful that will change for the better. He is struggling to eat and swallowing is still a problem. He stays nauseated. His balance is somewhat better thankfully but the right side of his body is having difficulty. Jon is still undergoing more tests like a Pet scan and MRI. Even through all of the pain he still positive and wants to get back to driving.
