Cancer Sucks!! Help James Burdick fight it!

Cancer sucks! It’s like a tornado. You can’t prevent it from striking, all you can do is batten down the hatches and hope it doesn’t take everything from you. We have friends who are sitting in a dark, damp cellar right now while the storm rages... and we can help!!

As many of you know, James Burdick was diagnosed with testicular cancer about a year ago. He went through surgery and chemotherapy. Looked good! Thought he beat it! 


But, nope, the lab work and scans shows it has come back. James, his wife, Kristin and their two boys - Tucker and Garret are in a place none of us ever want to see. They’re watching as everything changes daily - the head of their family is in jeopardy. He is now at the start of one of the most difficult chemotherapy treatment regimens we have. He will be so weak and nauseated while going through this for the next few months that he’ll have trouble just making it to the kitchen much less driving himself to his daily chemo treatments.  He has already been told he can no longer drive.


We’re really hopeful that it will work and their lives can get back to normal. But right now the entire Burdick family is in the midst of this storm. I know that they have a ton of friends who are willing to help provide a little shelter. 


They have health insurance but they have to take time off from work and short-term disability doesn’t provide 100% of the paycheck. Savings goes right out the window and then the credit card bills start mounting. They’re way too self-sufficient to ask for help so instead they’ll scrimp on necessities and keep working when they should stay home. 


Kristin, an amazing nurse who works with cancer patients, should be able to be home taking care of the most important cancer patient in her life. 


Meals are tasty and convenient, thoughts/prayers are lovely, good wishes are appreciated but let’s send some cash with them. Let’s give them a little breathing room financially so they can just concentrate on weathering this storm and then putting it all back together again.
