I’m Sam, an air force vet and last year I lost my job. I have spent the last year working on getting a new role and was set to start with the Jacksonville Sherrif’s Office in April as a dispatcher.

On the evening of Monday the 18th of March, I was out walking our dog when a lost dog came up to us. The dog was friendly. In trying to keep control of the situation I lost my footing and ended up hitting my head multiple times on the road extremely hard. I was rushed to the emergency room at St Vincents and then from there transported to the UF Health Jax ICU for neurological trauma.

I suffered multiple blood spots and brain bleeds and spent a week in the ICU recovering before being downgraded then finally discharged. During this time the amazing Neuro-vascular doctor at UF discovered that I had a veinous bulge going up the right side of my face, which attributed to the blood vessel in my right eye and a thinning in a part of my skull where a prominent indentation has been my whole life. He also discovered what we now know is a benign malformation on the veinous bulge and will be something that will be monitored going forward.

Right now I have multiple blood spots and also a few spots where there’s bleeding on the brain. The biggest concern is a blood spot on the veinous bulge that we aren’t sure if it is self healing or a bigger issue. We will have to wait at least three months to do another angiogram to find out if further surgery will be needed. In the meantime as my brain heals I am dealing with a never ending migraine.

Do to all this, I won’t be able to start my new role and with growing expenses and bills, assistance would be extremely appreciated.
