Update on Brenda’s Breast Cancer Journey

Donation protected
In early May, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I began treatment by joining a study for a new medication—my first four chemotherapy sessions used that drug. Last week, I started the standard chemo regimen and also received a pegfilgrastim shot to boost my white blood cells.

The side effects have been very tough—five days of bone pain, headaches, and fatigue after each treatment. Even so, at my monthly exam, my doctor reported that my tumors are shrinking. That news brings me so much hope.

I’m still working when I can, eating nourishing foods when nausea allows, and resting as much as possible. Most of all, I treasure time with my loved ones.

Thank you to everyone who has stood with me—my medical team, my family, my friends, and all of you supporting this fundraiser. Your donations, shares, and words of encouragement are making a real difference in my fight.

If you can give again or share this campaign today, it would mean the world. Together, you’re helping me fight cancer and move toward recovery.

Support Brenda’s Fight — Every Gift Makes a Difference

Brenda is facing one of her toughest battles yet. Diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, she’s about to embark on an 18-month journey of treatments including chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and recovery. The care she needs to move forward isn’t fully covered by insurance—specifically, a vital procedure called LYMPHA that could prevent lifelong complications.

Here’s how you can help:

Full Story:

In April, Brenda received a diagnosis that no one ever wants to hear: breast cancer. With three tumors and six affected lymph nodes, her medical team is working to fight this disease head-on. While it’s a relief that the cancer hasn’t spread beyond her breast and lymph nodes, Brenda’s fight is far from over.

Her treatment plan includes:
Chemotherapy
Double mastectomy
Radiation therapy
Reconstructive surgery

Among these, the LYMPHA procedure—an innovative lymphatic reconstruction—can dramatically lower her risk of lymphedema, a painful condition that can result from lymph node removal. Sadly, this procedure isn’t covered by her insurance, and without it, Brenda faces the possibility of lifelong swelling and discomfort.

Why Your Support Matters:

Cancer treatment encompasses more than just medical bills. It includes:
Travel and transportation to appointments
Supportive therapies to manage side effects
Nutritious food to keep her strength up
Time off work and household help
Emotional and mental health support

Every contribution—big or small—helps ease the burden and brings Brenda closer to a future beyond cancer. It’s about giving her the dignity, care, and hope she deserves.

Who Brenda Is:

If you know Brenda, you know her warmth, resilience, and her unwavering commitment to others. She’s a beloved mother, and wife, a community leader, a sister, a friend. For 30 years, she’s dedicated her life to caring for others—those who are sick, lost, or in need. Now, it’s our turn to rally around her.
