"No one can do it on their own! We're the family and friends of an amazing, good-hearted, giving community servant named Cheryl. "Calling on the villagers for support from family, friends and any kind-hearted people that know a life is worth saving …." Please Help Cheryl Fight A War Against A Rare Cancer! So she can begin the journey back to great health!"
My mother, Cheryl, had a routine doctor's appointment in September 2022 after noticing a lump in her abdominal area. She was diagnosed with a rare stage III-IV appendix cancer called Mucinous Adenocarcinomas. Doctors told her that this type of rare cancer does not typically respond to immunotherapy/chemotherapy/radiation. She has had two surgeries (December 2022 and February 2023) with devastating results. Has drastically changed her everyday life and quality of life quickly. She can no longer work to support herself or participate in activities she enjoyed before her diagnosis and surgeries...Life is already so precious these days. She has begun her war against cancer, an epic fight for her life. Cancer specialists do not accept her Medicare or secondary insurance program for some of the medically necessary treatments. The financial obligations of excessive and overwhelming medical bills, monthly bills, and expenses have become highly challenging.
The second surgery revealed some cancer was removed. Still, at this point, cancer and mucinous from this cancer had become too widespread to be removed through surgery until the tumor shrank, contained, or killed with treatment. Only then could a specific radiation therapy surgery be possible.
Cheryl has no other health problems. However, the treatment could do more damage to healthy cells throughout her body than kill the cancer cells. As a result, she does not want to go through chemotherapy, not knowing if it will work for her. Instead, she has started with alternative treatments not covered by insurance to possibly reduce cancer cell formation, prepare for a third surgery, and seek chemotherapy as a last resort.
Cheryl's note: "I would like to THANK YOU ALL! for your GENEROSITY, TIME &CARING. I want to say THANK YOU! To Loved ones, Family, Friends, Community & Strangers for your ongoing support, hope, prayers, and well wishes for a full recovery & great healing of my mind, body, spirit, and soul....in GOD, WE DO TRUST & BELIEVE ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WHEN YOU PUT YOUR FAITH AND LIFE IN GODS HANDS, AMEN!
Cheryl's Words:
I have been a very healthy, ordinarily active person all my life until the devastating surgeries in December of 2022 & February 2023. I am a native of Philadelphia, one of seven children raised by a beautiful, hard-working mother whom I get my beauty & strength from. My father, from who I received very strict disciple. They taught me how to be a social conscience, productive person. They taught me the value of hard work & being decent in words and deeds. My journey in life thus far has taken me to live in different states and parts of the country; I graduated from Simon Gratz High School as a school athlete, Gymnastic team, and Track- Participated in the Penn Relays. I have been called a Firecracker because of my level of Energy and determination.
After high school, I helped to organize and manage a music group. I became a Certified Cosmetology Teacher (Hair & make-up artist I still practice today when possible). I became an Entrepreneur and opened several start-up businesses, a Beauty salon & supply store in Bensalem, PA. In the Temple area, a Gourmet Deli called TEN ccs on Germantown Ave. I Volunteered with the Youth At Risk program to help troubled youth. I worked in the School District first as a teacher's Assist. I saw all the discipline problems the teachers had at times and could not teach the students that wanted to learn, so I changed to the School Police office. That enabled me to bring some order to the classrooms to give students a quality education. Before I knew it, I had served the School District for 20 years and retired in 2013. Be came an Ambassador for Real Time Pain Relief. I was naturally helping and supporting people with all types of pain through a plant base product line. Block Captain since the early '90s, assisting the Community as leader/organizer, voter registration/pole worker. I currently serve as the Judge of Election (43 Ward /23 division), voted in by the Community. I am a community-oriented person who is always willing to give back! I know there is more to come and more for me to give back to my Community!
I am usually a private type of person. However, life's current saturation has made me know I need to open up to receive the necessary monetary help from others. I am a fighter. I have never been a quitter. I WILL FINISH THE FIGHT! With the Grace, Mercy, and Favor of the LORD and good people, WE SHALL OVERCOME THIS DIS-EASE! I am proud of my family. And what they are doing for me. I am not finished! I have more to give and want to give more! With your help!
