On May 15, 2023, my daughter Julie Ann Mendoza (14 years old) was going to her class at Alamo Junior High school after their lunch period. The school video shows that Julie was walking in the hall when the assailant came up to her from behind and the assailant grabbed her from behind and began hitting her. Julie was trying to defend herself, but the assailant got her on the ground and continued to beat her. The difference in their size is such that once Julie was on the ground and the assailant was on top of her , Julie could not be seen on the school camera, the other girl completely covered her. The students in the hall all gathered around and started filming the assault, no one helped her. Finally school staff arrived and separated the girls. Both girls were taken to the office.

The school nurse checked her out and he said she was fine. Julie was vomiting and crying because she was in pain. She told the school staff repeatedly that she was in pain.

The school did NOT contact me. My daughter called me and said she had been beaten and was in a lot of pain so I rushed to the school. The school nurse told me that Julie was fine. The school administrators told me it was a mutual fight, both girls were instigators.

Then the school police officer showed up and viewed the footage from the hall camera and stated that Julie was very obviously the victim of an assault, not in any way an instigator.

The assailant was not arrested. We are still waiting to see if the assilant will get arrested.

I took Julie to Midland Memorial Hospital emergency room. They discovered that she had internal bleeding, and they felt she would be better served in Lubbock with specialists. She was transported to Lubbock by ambulance, and was in ICU due to internal bleeding in her stomach and a hematoma on her pancrease. We are still here in Lubbock at the Covenant Children's Hospital, and doesn't seem like we will be going home anytime soon. With all my heart I ask that you keep Julie in your prayers and kindly ask for help for travel and medical expenses.
