For Peter ♥️

Hello family!,

Here we are with much love and hope looking for financial, emotional, and spiritual support for Peter. I met Peter a year ago and learned that those who meet him quickly become family. He brings out authenticity in people- their light, their shadow, and embraces them with open arms. Now we are asking our community to offer some help and love his way. 

Peter is currently living in Costa Rica in the middle of the jungle with the monkeys. He used to have an operating hostel though has shut it down due to covid. He had been diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and has recently run into financial struggles to support his treatment.  In telling me more about his experiences lately, he also wrote this:

”The real test of heart strength, faith, self love, Zen.  Whatever you call it ,  is staying unattached to the hurt.   Hurt is,  there is no need to blame.  Pain is,  there is no need to quantify or qualify it.  Sadness hurt and pain will pass and some new emotion will arise.    Even while experiencing the “crap” we can be aware that we are held in the hands of this beautiful world.   That is what the daily monkey show is for me.    I have heard this called being open to the Colateral Beauty...“ 

Here’s a bit of what Peter has said about what he is currently experiencing and where the funds will be used:

In November 2016 I went in to Hospital Cima here in Costa Rica. Cima is one of the top rated hospitals in my adopted country. My doctor there informed me that I had a form of aggressive prostate cancer. Not good news. I got a second opinion from doctors at Stanford University Hospital. The Stanford people corroborated my Costa Rican doctors findings and agreed with the course of treatment suggested by him. So began the quarterly trips to San Jose from my home in the south of the country. For three and a half years now I have had to travel to the Capital to to have tests ,doctors visits and receive the injections necessary to keep the cancer in check. I am happy to say that the regimen I am on has worked very well and until now the cancer has been diminished and not growing.
Up until 2020 I was able to cover the costs of travel ,meds and visits to hospital with my personal savings. Now with the coronavirus our hostel here has had to shut down. I have no medical insurance as I have been outside the USA for 20 years now. Since January 2020 have not been able to get to Hospital or receive medications for lack of funds.Public health insurance here in Costa Rica in not adequate to properly treat disorders like mine. My doctor has prescribed an injection known as Lucrin 11.25. Only one pharmacy carries this medication. Pharmacy Leisa charges over $700 per injection, obtainable only in San Jose. The one alternative to Lucrin is a pill called Casodex that I can take daily. Casodex costs $1500 or more for a three month supply.
What I am asking for is funding so that I can travel to San Jose and Hospital Cima for treatment every three months. I need funds to provide for transportation, fuel, food, hotel for one or two nights as well as doctor visits and the medications. All together each trip will cost $1500. So I am asking for $6000 and an additional $4000. for contingency money for a total of $10,000.
