Please help Papa

Hi, my name is Kristin and I am creating a fundraiser to help my raise money for my father in law Jon Sellon, or as I, and his grandchildren like to call him "Papa". On June 1st, 2023 Papa had a heart attack around 6:00 in the morning, he had been complaining about not feeling good and having really bad heartburn and felt like he needed to throw up. After spending sometime in the bathroom he went to the couch to sit next to Mom (Fran) and closed his eyes due too feeling dizzy. Not even moments later, he slumped onto Mom's shoulder and was out. Mom laid him on the floor, called 911 and started doing compressions/CPR. His heart had stopped, and he was without oxygen for under ten minutes when emergency services were able to step in.

He was first brought to Bemidji Hopsital where they brought him into ICU, and discovered he had a serious heart attack and 300% blockage in his artery along with a few broken ribs from the CPR. They were able to get a stent put in, and after a few hours he came too, but he was in an agitated state and incoherent causing his BP to raise so doctors sedated him and put a tube in to help him breathe so they could give his body time to heal and be accessed.

The doctors expressed concerned of there being neurological damage due to his brain being without oxygen for so long, but aren't able to access the damage at this time as the damage may not show right away. However, now that he's sedated they told him his body was finally relaxing and his BP was decreasing.

After a while they noriced there was blood coming from his lungs and at first were concerned as they didn't know if the injury was due to intubation or the ribs being broken. They spoke with the nearest trauma center, Fargo, and went over the situation with the doctors there for the best solution going forward. The doctors in Fargo suggested it was best to have him in their care, and so he was flighted to Fargo.

Once he arrived, he started to have a fever of 102 defrees which they've been trying to keep him cool. They did take him out of sedation to check his responses, but he wasn't responding to any of the requests such as "squeeze my hands" and he still wasn't opening his eyes. They've done the pin prick to see pain responses last night and the first time he didn't respond, but the second time he responded in both his hands and feet. They did re-sedate him as he was once again becoming more agiated and everytime he was agitated his BP raised.

The good news is so far, he is no longer bleeding from his lungs which was likely due to irritation from being intubated and being on blood thinner medication. They are currently keeping him at a temp of 97 degrees to keep any swelling and brain activity to a minimum.

Please continue to pray and send good thoughts. He is very well loved by his Wife, Three Children, and Grandchildren.

And if you can,
Please help support or share this go fund me.

Jon currently doesn't have medical insurance, and the time he'll be in the hospital is still unknown. Any help will go towards medical expenses as well as providing help for Fran Sellon, his wife with transportation, boarding, and food while she stays at the hospital with him. Please, please help. Any little bit will be just one less thing they will need to worry about in this road to recovery.

Thank you so much,
Kristin
