To quote William's mom, Melody, here's a bit about the initial situation prognosis:

"I need your help and intercession for William. He was found facedown in our pool Saturday afternoon (7/16), taken to Mansfield Methodist, transferred to Cooks Children's Pediatric ICU.
His eyes are the only thing responding to stimuli (praise!) The rest of him is still unresponsive. He is on a ventilator, good oxygenation levels (praise!) Lower % oxygen with higher pressure to help expand the lungs. IPV (internal percussive ventilation) treatments every 4 hours helping to dislodge the gunk and fluid build up in his lungs.
Heart presented with tachycardia and arrhythmia upon admission. Tachycardia has mostly subsided, (praise!) arrhythmia still remaining. Heart needs strengthening still.
Epinephrine is no longer needed! (Praise!)
Bi-carb no longer needed! (Praise)
They did a 24 hr EEG (electroecephalogram) to look for seizures in his brain. No seizures! (PRAISE!) Some brain activity shown, means he is NOT brain dead! It is much slower than a healthy brain, but it's there and that's what we will praise God for. CT scan at admission showed massive swelling, indicative of a long time without oxygen. We do not know exactly how long he was in the water. But NO brain bleeds! (PRAISE!)
MRI today showed that swelling did NOT increase as they expected it would (praise!)
MRI also showed severe deep damage to areas in control of swallowing/gag reflex, motor control, speech, and cognition. "

There have been many triumphs and setbacks since the initial tests and further evaluations conducted thru the first week.

The latest on William's condition as of 7/24, quoting Melody again:

"Nothing much has changed, except his pupil dilation has decreased. I would consider this VERY good news because it makes me think that his brain swelling must must going down. That is our hope and prayer!
His blood pressure has still been good, except for when the nurses have to handle him for a big turn or doing their assessment/care. BP usually goes down over time and doesn't stay up much longer after he is left alone.
These last two days and nights we have been so blessed! Our nurse today while we were away was the same nurse we had yesterday! And not only is she a believer, but she had praise and worship music going, and read to him and gave him a bath! We're talking soak up all the sheets need to change the linens afterward bath! And tonight's nurse was the same "merse" we had last night. Super sweet guy, took really good care of William for us while we were away.
Tomorrow, there is talk of another MRI to ascertain where William's brain is at now. We plead and implore EVERYONE that MRI results would not only show reduced swelling, but to show NO DAMAGE!
William just had a respiratory treatment and he began BREATHING AGAIN! Almost every breath for 2 MINUTES! Then I guess William got tired lol he's breathing occasionally now and agonal breaths. So keep praying!"
