Mya is fighting a Brain tumor. She has just reached her 3rd birthday.
Her brain tumor is located in the brainstem up. Yes anything near or in the brain stem is bad news and there is normally no cure. At 15 months the tumor reached the size of a baseball and she underwent surgery on January 4&5th of 2017. She was baptized in the hospital bed as the doctors said she was not expected to survive and if she did she would be paralyzed for ever.
Well, we saw a miracle first hand as she made it out of surgery and did well enough to get out of the hospital in a week and into an in-house rehab for 3 months. While she does have some deficiencies from two brain surgeries, we believe that with physical therapy Mya will once again walk on her own. She has double vision from her 4th nerve being damaged during surgery and some left face paralysis along with verbal delays. All things that time can help.
After surgery Mya’s brain scans were showing aggressive increase. We visited 12 institutions to see how they can help her. Thankfully,
Mya was excepted into a program that has seen success in shrinking brainstem tumors.
With the kindness, support and heart for Mya from the people in our country, we were able to afford to start this treatment.
Since the start of this treatment, Mya has reached her 3 year old level mentally. She speaks very clear, is expressive, plays, appearance is intact, has energy and a regular appetite. This is not chemotherapy. This treatment is showing great success. But we could use all your help to be able to keep her in this program as it takes time. Insurance does not cover this and it will cost anywhere from $15 to 30k per month.
