Como tem sido tradição no meu aniversário, volto a criar uma angariação de fundos para ajudar os animais — e, felizmente, tem sempre corrido muito bem.

Este ano, tal como nos anteriores, a angariação reverte para a Associação Save & Care Santuário Animal, da qual sou apoiant​e e voluntária há mais de quatro anos. São verdadeiramente extraordinários! Criaram um santuário que acolhe mais de 180 animais resgatados, num terreno que, no início, era completamente estéril. Hoje, cerca de cinco anos depois, existem abrigos para todos, uma horta que alimenta tanto humanos como muitos dos animais, e inúmeras árvores que oferecem a sombra tão necessária nos dias quentes. É um espaço vivo, em permanente crescimento.

O santuário é, em grande parte, autossuficiente em energia, água e parte da alimentação. Mas cuidar diariamente de mais de 180 vidas e ainda responder aos inúmeros pedidos de ajuda que chegam todos os dias só é possível com o apoio coletivo. A associação não tem fins lucrativos: vive exclusivamente de donativos de apoiantes e patrocinadores. A dedicação total à causa animal e ao ideal da libertação animal é inspiradora — fazem um trabalho verdadeiramente exemplar.

As has become a tradition on my birthday, I’m once again creating a fundraiser to help animals — and it has always gone wonderfully well.

This year, just like in previous years, the fundraiser will support Save & Care Santuário Animal, an association I’ve been supporting and volunteering with for over four years. They are truly exceptional! They created a sanctuary that now cares for more than 180 rescued animals, on land that was originally completely barren. Today, almost five years later, there are safe shelters for every animal, a garden that feeds both humans and many of the animals, and countless trees that offer much-needed shade on hot days. It’s a living space, constantly growing and evolving.

The sanctuary is largely self-sufficient in energy, water and part of its food supply. But caring for more than 180 animals every single day — while still responding to the many daily requests for help — is only possible through collective support. This is a non-profit organisation that survives solely on donations from supporters and sponsors. Their total dedication to these animals and to the ideal of animal liberation is truly inspiring — their work is exemplary.

For all these reasons, I kindly ask for your support. It would be the best birthday gift you could give me.
