Following a mattress fire in our apartment on 6/7, our entire unit is under renovation which has left us in need of help from any friends & family who are able to do so.
Our family is safe and sound and same goes for le bunny, Chubbs ♡ It is nothing short of God's Grace that this scenario wasn't far more devastating..
The fire was contained first by the sprinkler system and Aren's dresser, which was gifted to us by a caring neighbor... I believe her beloved late husband was protecting us all from his home in heaven. If it weren't for the specific density, size AND placement of the dresser, which effectively blocked air flow to the flame and took on the burn slowly until the firefighters arrived to extinguish it, the fire would have engulfed the walls and roof of the entire building.
With how long the sprinkler was needed to contain such a danger, a majority of the structural damage has been water related. Thus the amazing team of workers will be replacing our flooring, kitchen ceiling, and a multitude of other things! These contractors have handled our tough situation with astounding amounts of care and efficiency, we couldn't be more grateful for such people in our lives.
The estimated time to complete this project is 4 weeks. Unfortunately we had not yet invested in Renter's Insurance (a mistake we won't make again) so we'll not be receiving assistance in hotel accommodations nor be will we be reimbursed for the belongings lost.. We are staying with family members in the area for the time being.
Due to the deadly chemicals involved in mattress fires, all food, besides canned, has been spoiled.
Likewise, our
dining furniture,
microwave,
plastic dishware,
bookstand of kids books,
curtains,
floorlamps,
and a majority of clothing and shoes are toast
The amount of support shown by our community and loved ones has been astounding. We will move forward throughout this tribulation with unsurmountable thankfulness for life, love, kind hearts, and hard workers!
