The day after his 47th birthday, our beloved brother, friend, educator, and mentor Malykke (Mr. Bacon) had a stroke. Then a few days later, he suffered a second, more severe stroke. These strokes have left Mr. Bacon severely incapacitated; affecting his vision, speech, and the use of the entire left side of his body. After over a week of being hospitalized, Mr. Bacon was moved to a rehabilitation facility to undergo physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and more. Doctors have advised that it could be up to 6 months before Mr. Bacon is strong enough to return home, and once home he may need some sort of in-home health care assistance for a while.
The friends of the Bacon family have started this fundraiser to help with the urgent restorative medical care and therapy that Malykke Bacon will need in the weeks and months ahead. There will be a long road to recovery and he and his brothers will need all the support they can get. As many of you may or may not know, Malykke is also the caretaker of his younger brother Micah, who has special needs. With Malykke unable to work, we want to make sure that Micah's needs continue to be met, and the household expenses can be maintained. Malykke is always taking care of everyone else, now it's our turn to help take care of him.
If Malykke/Mr. Bacon has ever bought you or your children clothes, gone to your child's performance, made you want to keep on going in school and in life when things looked most bleak; this is your opportunity to say "thank you".
If he has made you laugh, reached out to your family, or been there for you at the loss of a loved one; if he's cooked you something, if you've seen him and/or his card or gift at your wedding, or felt that your life would have gone vastly different without the impact of his presence, this is your opportunity to say " you were there".
