My name is Nick and I am John's younger brother. I am here to ask our community for assistance in overcoming a challenging adversity that my family is currently facing at this time. Most of you know John as "Whitey", "Dice", " Big John", and a plethora of other names and alter egos. I know him as Family, Brother, Best Friend, and my Idol.
If you know John, then you know him as the life of the party and the guy who will tell you his life story in a night even though you just met him 2 hours ago at karaoke. John is always the first person to lend a helping hand and never expects anything in return. He is also the type of person who tends to be reserved when it comes to asking for and receiving help when needed. I believe he could really use the support of the community to help shoulder the financial burden of a life-altering medical diagnosis.
In October of this year, John was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. This was earth-shattering for our family. John has approached his diagnosis with discretion and entered his treatment plan determined to take the cancer head-on. He successfully completed his first phase of treatment in December. It was a 5-week treatment plan consisting of Radiation therapy 5 days a week paired with chemotherapy infusions once a week.
In January he will be going down to Brigham & Women's for a procedure to remove the cancerous tumor from his esophagus and spend the week recovering under hospital supervision. The recovery process will be 6 to 8 weeks, but the surgery will be a life-altering procedure.
At this time I am asking our community for help in whatever way they can. Despite having insurance, the cost of the type and level of care he has been blessed to receive will far exceed what will be covered. My brother has a long road in front of him and medical expenses are the last thing he should have to worry about while recovering from cancer treatment and surgery. Whatever you can give will go long a long way and my family and I will forever be grateful. Thank you and God Bless
