Emergency hospital bill
Donation protected
As most of you know we unfortunately had to put Mattie down this past Sunday evening. It has been very difficult for our family to come to terms with this.
For those who don't know, on Sunday August 4th we had to rush our cat to the local emergency hospital. He hadn't been eating or drinking for 3 days and was having troubles walking on his back legs. He was diagnosed with diabetes 2 years ago, and unfortunately because of the costs associated, we were unable to get him the proper treatment needed. Once we were at the hospital, they did some initial blood work and a ketones test which revealed his blood sugar was 41 and his electrolytes were high. His kidneys were also failing and they didn't know how much longer he would last. Our choices were to hospitalize him (where he could get the proper treatment but it would have costs us almost 6 grand), or put him down. As you can imagine, we did not have that kind of money nor were any payment plans available to us. At 3 am Monday morning we made the very difficult decision to put him down
Unfortunately, on top of grieving we have an outstanding bill with the animal hospital that we need to pay by the end of the month. Our total bill was $1500 and we were only able to put down 300 on our own, with a promise to pay later.
Anyone who has a pet, or has lost one, knows that they are more than just a pet they become like family. Our Mattie was with us for 10 years and became like a second child to us.
We thank you all for your love and support during this difficult time.
