Chuck Johnson's Memorial

I didn't realize I have to type this story but here I go......My name is Carolyn Vegiga Johnson. Chuck and I have been together for more than 34 years, married for 32. We have 3 beautiful children. Anyway, this is difficult to type as he just passed away yesterday morning about 4:20am. He's been fighting this battle to stay alive since December 29th. It was a Thursday, we had a normal day. He walked the dog in the morning and later in the afternoon. In the evening after I worked, we went to get dinner and brought it home while we watched a movie. Soon after about 8pm, he started to feel cold. He was already wrapped up in a blanket, so I thought I'd put another one on him. He started shivering so then I realized something was wrong. I had told him I was going to take him to emergency but he said no he was okay but then he started shivering more. I felt he wouldn't be able to walk to the car so I asked the boys for help. Right when they were lifting him from the couch, he threw up blood. We called 911. He had been in the hospital for 3 weeks until all his vitals were stable and left with a trach and a peg and still had not woken up when he was transferred to an acute care facility where he died 1 week later. This has been very heavy for myself and our children. It's just hard to accept, especially since we were inseparable, together 24/7, soulmates. He was charming, likable, unselfish, lifting, never judged, always looked out and saw the best and talent in others. There are so many who can tell you stories of how he played an instrumental part in their lives as well as mine and our children. He was Chuck Johnson, the man who set the stage on Soul Train in the 70s through the 80s, good friends with Don Cornelius. Also made a difference in many dancers' lives and even paired up couples who are still married to this day. He was Chuck Johnson, the man who played an instrumental part in helping his good friend Dick Griffey with the acts signed to SOLAR Records. Such as Lakeside, Shalamar, Midnight Star and so on. He was the most coolest, patient, understanding, then again he could be slick but the most loved of them all. He's touched many lives and now our hearts are aching. He is in a better place now and at peace and no more pain. There is so much more to say and hopefully one day we can put his story out there so you can hear more about this great man. Myself and the family appreciate your love and support. Even if you're unable to add to the pot, hopefully, our story can touch your heart. Prayers will always help the healing process. Thank you.

He will be missed immensely by everyone. I LOVE YOU FOREVER My Honey Bunny Chuckie Wuckie One and Only, your Wifey
