Hello,
My name is Jamie-Lynne and I was the very lucky recipient of one of Matthew Jackson's last kind deeds before his tragic passing in a car accident on November 11th.
In the car with Matt were two of his best friends and coworkers, Mark & Nic. They were driving to Walmart to pick up transmission fluid so that Mark could safely make the 40 mile drive home that night. Unfortunately for the world, Matthew lost his life in that accident but thankfully Mark & Nic survived.
I was asked by Matt the night I met him in the grocery store to Pay It Forward. We are doing exactly that with MatthewsLegacy Facebook page as a way to inspire the world to live a life of kindness like Matt and to give hope to people during this very difficult time. When I found out about his two friends that survived the accident I knew that Matt would want us to help them too.
Accidents are just that.. Accidents.. Matthew is looking down on us now but his friends are still here and need our help during this very physically and emotionally traumatic time. Not only are they out of work with insurmountable medical bills piling up, but they just found out that the insurance coverage is the bare minimum and will not cover much.
It is the holidays everyone.. Let's give them something to smile about!
About Mark -
He is 24 years old and recently married to the love of his life Alex. He has worked for LA Fitness since 2012 and is an amazing person.
Because of the accident Mark had to have his spleen removed and his left arm in a cast. The physical trauma will heal but the emotional trauma is unbearable. His hospital stay and surgery alone exceeds $150,000 and his insurance is trying to get out of paying anything.
About Nic -
He is 22 years old and from New England. He has worked at LA Fitness for over 1 year. He loves his job and the people he works with.
Because of the accident he is left with a handful of broken ribs, a badly sprained ac joint in his shoulder, a bad concussion, and a severe TBI (traumatic brain injury). He was in ICU with short term memory loss. His Life Flight was $15,000 and hospital stay comparable to Marks.
Nic also cares for his physically disabled mama and is so grateful to his amazing friends who have stepped in to help her. He is unable to drive, in brain trauma rehabilitation 7 hours per day 3x's per week and will be out of work for 3+ months.
Mark & Nic are both so very thankful to be alive and humbled by this whole experience. They lost one of their best friends.. Let's help ease their stress and give them a very Merry Christmas!
