Chloe’s Treatment-Pediatric Brain Tumors
Chloe was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma (a rare type of brain tumor derived from pituitary gland embryonic tissue that occurs most commonly in children) in January, 2021. Originally, they were thinking emergency surgery with a whole slew of long term side effects. After going to St Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, TN last week, it was determined that they think they may have greater results by doing 8 weeks of Proton Therapy.
If you know the Hawley’s, you know they would never ask for help! However, they are looking at 8 weeks away from home. They will be eating out and paying to board their dog. They will possibly lose time away from work. And once the Proton therapy is done, they will be looking at multiple trips to St Jude for many years to come. Chloe is going to need regular MRI’s and hormone therapy amongst other things.
Chloe is 11 years old, she should be worrying about starting middle school. Instead, she is worried about brain tumors and wigs and lots of needles.
Please help in any way you can and let’s show Chloe and her family how much we love them!
