On July 12, the Martin family learned the heartbreaking news that Mike’s brain was host to a 5 cm mass causing him problems with vision and sense of direction. He patiently and courageously underwent his first craniotomy on July 17 to remove the glioblastoma, then was discharged home with optimistic focus on overcoming this new aggressive cancer. During his recovery, Mike developed new ominous symptoms and returned to the hospital for the diagnosis of surgery-related meningitis. Mike and his family were forced to turn their attention to battling sepsis. For two months, Mike moved in and out of various ICUs receiving aggressive antibiotic treatments, several repeat craniotomies, and other advanced supportive procedures as his health waned, recovered, and waned further. Although these tribulations were the ultimate challenge of his life, Mike remained tenacious, full of grace, and faithful in Christ.
It is with heavy hearts we share that Mike passed away peacefully in his home on September 25, 2023.
Michael Stacer Martin was a doting husband of 35 years to Kim, dutiful father to Chad and Mitchel, new grandfather to Everly, and loving brother and son; he was a man of honor and dignity to all who knew him. He particularly enjoyed spending time in his tranquil backyard oasis alongside Kim and their dogs.
Your donations are greatly appreciated and will provide financial relief to Mike’s wife, Kim. These funds will be used to alleviate the hardship caused by medical bills from multiple craniotomy operations, hospital stay, and hospice care.
On behalf of the Martin Family, we thank you for your continued love, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
