Hi, my name is Robert Levy, I am fundraising for my father, Frank Levy, as he enters into hospice care. Frank has been in and out of the hospital frequently since 2018. Aetna has refused to pay for his current Acute Care Facility any further because he has stopped responding to treatment. We have applied for Medi-Cal, but they have yet to respond. With no other options, he has been moved from the facility back into his home. My mother, Cecilia, has had to assume the challenging role of his primary caregiver.
At this point the medical bills exceed $11,000. Since Frank is unable to stand or walk, and Medicare considers his transportation home non-emergency, we have accrued over $7000 in ambulance bills. We are now all adjusting to what could be a long and arduous hospice period. The funds raised would go toward existing and future medical bills, hiring a caretaker to assist my mother for a few hours a week, and any post-hospice expenses.
Frank Levy had a wonderful career as a music educator at Bergenfield High School, and has been an inspiration to hundreds of music students. The Frank Levy Scholarship was named in his honor and provides a scholarship to students in the BHS music program.
His family appreciates any assistance during this difficult time, and any kind words of support would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert
