Prom Fund raising

We are the Leasowes Year 11 Prom Committee.

As we are all aware, the increases in the cost of living have forced everyone to have to make tough decisions in recent years. Many people have had to choose between necessities and luxuries. This has been (and continues to be) the reality of far too many families within our school community.

Just as inflation has increased the costs of all aspects of society, hospitality has been no exception. As a result, the costs of Prom tickets as set by our local venues has dramatically increased and this year the tickets for our Prom are £45.00 per person to attend.

As a year group, we have become aware that there are a number of students who, despite working hard all year, having good attendance and perfect behaviour are making the tough decision not to attend our Prom because of the height of this cost, in addition to outfits and transport.

We believe strongly that no student should miss out on their end of school prom simply because of cost. Therefore, we (The Prom Committee) are working hard to try to raise money in school to create a fund to support these students who are eligible to go, want to go but cannot afford the full cost of a ticket. We have held Valentine's Day fundraisers and samosa sales and intend to continue with our in-school fundraising efforts.

However, we have also decided to reach out to you, our amazing wider school community, to support us further in this mission. We know times are tough for everyone but any donation to our fund that you can make would be really, really appreciated.

Please help us to ensure that attending our year 11 Prom, after 11 years of school and a gruelling 6 weeks of examinations, is not a luxury that our young people cannot afford to have.

The money raised will also help pay for extra niceties and important additions, such as decorations, security, entertainment etc. at the prom
