I am a homeless transgender woman of color living in a homeless shelter in the tenderloin district of san francisco. I battle with C-PTSD and gender dysphoria. I experience street discrimination multiple times a day, every day of my life, and this has been happening even before I was in female presentation. i have been applying for jobs furiously, and sadly none have gotten back to me. It's very frustrating and it makes me feel like the gentrifiers want me just to leave the city and go somewhere else. But I stay because I seek transgender wellness resources in the Tenderloin, which is my sanctuary. I know of no other such sanctuary in Los Angeles, Seattle, or Portland. The closest thing I've heard is NYC. I'm not ready to move to NYC. Right now, in my efforts to survive on a more practical level, I need to pay my storage unit ($400/mo) while i attempt each month to scale it down hopefully to nothing. I need to pay my cell phone bill ($150/mo). I need to support public transportation travel, which is hundreds per month. The more transportation money I receive, the more growth activities I do. For example, visiting the office of housing subsidies, attending meetings at a new transgender health cohort (THNBF) at berkeley free clinic, and just saving my energy so that i don't have to walk from haight ashbury all the way back to the TL in time for shelter checking (2-5 pm). I'd like to keep this intro short and save the long winded explanations for the updates. But you get the picture. I am out of money yet again, and have stretched your generous contributions from last season as far as I could. Now there is nothing left, and I must ask you again. Anything helps.
