My name is Jessica from Akron, IA. My family are friends with the Floyd family. Brody is the son of Jayme and Corey Floyd and younger brother to Brock. They are a great family from the community of Martinsburg, NE. Brody is a 14 year old student at Allen Consolidated. We are raising money to help with medical bills, travel, food, gas and loss of work. Brody will be in the hospital for some time yet and then therapy to get back to himself. The money will go directly to Jayme and Corey to withdrawl as they need during Brody's recovery.
Story told by Corey: Well where do we begin....Brody started getting a headache last Thursday (2/14) and took some medicine and went to bed. Went to school the next day with a headache. Went to go wake him up Saturday morning for basketball practice and he said his head hurt too bad so he slept the day away. Went to go wake him up Sunday for more basketball and he said no way his head hurt to bad and it started swelling. Monday he went into urgent care and home with medication. Back up to ER on Tuesday and sat in a hospital room for 4 days receiving antibiotics to be sent home to recover on Friday. By Saturday afternoon he got so bad that his left side wouldn't move. We wanted a second opinion so in the snow storm we took off for Children's Hospital in Omaha. Wow what a difference, within 3 hours he was in surgery with a couple teams of Dr’s working with what is called Potts Puffy Tumor. He's on the mend now after sinus surgery and cutting part of his scalp off to remove part of his skull and flush out all the infection they got it all put back together with using his original skull and not have to use a plate to replace it with. For a couple of days he had a port above his left eye to flush out his sinus. He also has drain tubes coming out of the back of his head for a while.
He was sedated for several days before they woke him back up.
It will be a long road for recovery so if keep him in your prayers please.
Thank you!
