John's Journey

Hi, my name is Hallie. I'm 11 years old, and I am raising money for my friend, John, who is 13. We have been riding to school together every day for the last 4 years. I love John like a big brother because he is smart, funny, super nice, and just an overall amazing person. He has helped me in so many ways and now I hope you will join me in helping John and his family.

On February 1, John had a vision test after school because he was having migraine headaches. The optician was very concerned about what he saw and immediately sent him to the hospital. That night, John was admitted and scheduled for a brain stem tumor resection the next day. Thanks to the AMAZING team at Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital, he survived a very difficult surgery. Part of me thinks that 2 is now John’s lucky number because his surgery happened on 2-2-22 at 2 pm in Pre-op Room 2 and Operating Room 2!

It has been a long journey for John and his family and they are still fighting as hard as they can. He has suffered many setbacks, including Posterior Fossa Syndrome and other complications prolonging recovery like COVID, secondary surgeries, and long hospital stays. His last round of chemo decimated his white blood cell count and inflamed his GI tract.

John's Mom and Dad need help with many things, including bills, Uber rides, groceries, and home improvements for accessibility. We want to help John with whatever he needs to get better. He has given everyone around him so much joy, and he has been through so much and he continues to work so hard. We want to give him every possible joy and any help we can.
