Eric is one of the most giving and helpful people you will ever meet, but he will never ask for anything in return nor will he EVER ask for help. So, on his behalf, we are asking for help and support!
In March 2023 Eric was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Carcinoid Cancer. A large tumor in his small bowel was located along with smaller spreads to his liver.
On May 12, 2023, Eric went under emergency life saving surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Surgeons were able to remove the majority of the main tumor, and most importantly, reroute the veins and arteries for his small intestine and colon. Majority of the small intestine and a minority section of the colon had to be removed, then the gallbladder and appendix were also removed as a procedural standard.
Eric will be at Mayo for a week or more in recovery and then at home for an additional 6+ weeks of recovery. The road doesn't end there as Eric will need to continue his battle and undergo systemic treatments such as oral chemo. The long-term prognosis and treatment plan are still being reviewed by his team of doctors.
Regarding neuroendocrine tumors, they are very rare and not a lot is known about them. There isn’t any specific cause or even general causes of these tumors at this time besides a random mutation.
Eric has a great support team, including his family, his girlfriend Alexis and her young son Myles and so many wonderful friends, along with his amazing dog, Jax.
Unfortunately he will also have the large financial expenses of out-of-state surgeries and ongoing cancer treatments.
These treatments will limit his ability to cook his favorite meals for himself and Alexis, play sports, attend events, operate his lawn care business and having the quality outdoor activity time with his niece and nephew.
Please consider contributing to help Eric pay medical bills and other associated expenses as he takes the steps to beat each battle and win the war.
